Goodbye, Alaska.

After a week and a half and more games of Scrabble than we ever thought we'd enjoy, we left Thompson Pass for Los Anchorage - hotbed of Subaru sales. We met up with Matt and Shelley Saturday night, and we decided to head to Girdwood. We went out to eat, then danced to a great band called the Whipsaws at the Sitzmark before heading back to crash at their new place. The sheetrock and mud were newly done, so were honored to be the first to stay in one of the guestrooms after Matt rolled out some fresh paper on the floor.

Sunday was car-showing day. The Subaru was newly washed, vacuumed, and cleaned, and made an impressive showing. In a week we went from thinking we'd be driving it home to sell (not a pretty picture considering the 30+ degree temp drop since our drive up) to getting more than our asking price. SOLD to the highest bidder.

All in all, we had a really great time in AK. Amazing natural beauty, great turns, and fantastic people made for a memorable trip. We owe major thanks to Matt K & Tabitha and Matt E, Shelley, and Lil' Sue for putting us up, putting up with us, and showing us such a good time. We were amazed at how friendly the rest of AK was - almost everyone we met was super nice, whether offering car sales advice, connections for our trip, or a place to crash next time we were in town. Goodbye for now Alaska, and thanks for everything!
